I’ve been learning a lot about doors and windows lately. (Learning that I DON’T like to paint them or fix them, but that’s beside the point….) Chris and I have been praying over a huge decision for a little over a week now, and trying with everything in us to totally commit it to the Lord. When we have handed it over, prayed specifically, taken steps of faith… and things have been happening. We’ve talked over and over about the fact that we can not deny that the Lord is working. Things have just happened that could not have happened unless the divine hand of God had not orchestrated it, but now we are left in a position where we need to take another step of faith.
For the past 6 months, I’ve been learning how to walk, learning how to commit things to the Lord and then take a step, even if it is a baby step. Up until this time, I have spent so much time praying and asking for the Lord’s confirmation on certain things, but have been afraid to put one foot in front of the other. I won’t say that it has gotten easier, but the more I pray, the more specific I get, the more I see God’s hand and have the faith to move.
Here’s what I read this morning in the book Jesus Calling, a devotional book based on scripture and written as if Jesus were talking directly to you. “Stay ever so close to me, and you will not deviate from the path I have prepared for you.”
I’ve learned that usually God doesn’t lay the whole plan out before us, but just gives us little open doors and windows and the faith to take one step at a time. Remember the fear I had about putting myself out there and opening an etsy shop? I have prayed through the fear, taken little tiny steps and have seen God open doors that I never could have opened on my own. So, I guess my take away this morning is that we don’t have to know all the answers, we don’t have to know the ways that God is going to work something out (or not), we just need to stay close to him, seek his will and know that He will not lead us astray.
Psalm 25:4 (NLV)
“Show me the path where I should walk O Lord, point out the right road for me to follow. Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you.”
Be encouraged today, whatever your situation, give it to God, pray specifically and wait to see the goodness of the Lord!
