We walk into the GWO, my favorite place…. and I see her, out of the corner of my eye… and I just KNEW at that moment that she would fit right in. Now, at first glance (maybe second and third glance too) she didn’t look like much, in fact my mother advised me more than once that I should not, under any circumstances buy her… but my heart kept calling me back… I just couldn’t let her sit there unloved when she had so much potential. I just knew there was something lovely under there.
I asked the clerk how much she was… after a quick look and a tiny cringe, she said… “um…20 bucks.”
Ok. Done.and Done. Thank you very much.
Yes, folks, the white couch that you see above was once not-so-white. Maybe yellow-ish gray-black would be a better color to describe her. But that’s OK… I knew she had it in her. So, mom and I took off the slipcover and pillows and I taped a SOLD sign proudly to her arm. We treated the
entire thing spots with gallons of stain remover and oxy clean and Mom ran the cover through the washer with bleach. twice. and WA-LA…. There she is, in all her glory. A Mitchell Gold for Storehouse sofa gleaming in whiteness for twenty dollars!!!
The best part is that it’s the same style of the sofa we currently own, so it’s a pair! Woo hoo! I can’t tell you how much I needed that little pick-me-up yesterday. Now, Chris could use one today, so I am praying that the Lord will speak his love language as well…
I am so proud my little thrift store find!
What better way to break her in… haul her to the back yard and let the kids pose for some pictures! Makes her look even better!
After I press the cover, whip stitch a few seams and add some throw pillows, she will be almost like new! Ahhh, I am in love with the GWO.
