Doors and Windows

I’ve been slow at posting… so many things going on around here and so little brain space to process it all… First things first:  We have a contract on a house!!!  Pending inspection, we could be closing on a new house at the end of June… Ahhhh!   I can’t tell you what a relief this is. (Although I must admit, living with few bills, no mortgage and in-house babysitters has really been A-mazing…I ALMOST don’t want to leave…!)  If it weren’t for the twin size full size bed Chris and I have been squeezing into every night, we might have considered this a long term option…;)

Last night Grace was saying her prayers and this is what she prayed about the new house:  “….And dear Lord, I just pray that if this is our house that you would open all the doors and if this is not our house that you would close all the windows and the doors too, and if this is our house that you would help a lot of pretty flowers to grow and we thank you for the beautiful flowers, and let there be no storms and tornadoes and thank you for the swimming pool……” and then she went on to pray for every single friend she could think of, their mom and dad, and their ‘Izzies and Papas’ (separately, I might add… so at this point I think she was stalling going to bed…)

And so I say, AMEN to Grace’s prayer… and we do pray that if this is our house that all the doors would be opened and if not, that the doors AND windows will be closed too.

After this lengthy process of selling and buying a new home, I am hopeful that we are nearing the end of this road, but after all, it’s just a house… so if this isn’t the one God has for us, I am ok with that too.

Can’t wait to tell you all the amazing things that came together on the day we were writing the contract… but I will wait until we know for sure…

And, I finished one of the quilts for the girls rooms.  Let me just tell you, for one reason or another the girls LOVE it when I make them something.  Harper shivers with excitement, Grace can barely hide her shy smile….and I love that.  They would rather wear clothes that I make them than the ones bought in a store any day… and they are ecstatic about their quilts.  So much so, that they are fighting over who I made the first one for… regardless of the fact that the second one will be identical to the first.

I wish I had the photography skills to take a picture that reveals just how adorable it turned out… but you’ll have to settle with these 2 picts for now… When we actually move and I get their room (or rooms) set up… I will post a picture of the whole she-bang…

vintage sheet quilt

vintage sheet quiltI can’t take credit for the whole idea because my inspiration was the cirrus and nimbus bedding at Anthropologie… but I like my version better!

Most precious prayer warrior ! I love praying with Grace, no pun intended ! But either way, it is a special treat and God is smiling and hugging her.

This is the most beautiful vintage sheet quilt I have ever seen! I have been collecting sheets for three years now and I’m finally ready to cut it out, are you willing to sell or share the pattern?
